We live in Darien, CT and want to move out. Looking at Katonah, NY and Fairfield, CT - both diverse towns with great schools and more affordable due to location. Can anyone tell me some pros/cons of Katonah? Is there enough close by such as camps, stores, gyms etc....or is most a drive? Do you feel isolated? Does the town feel very small or cozy? Are people warm and friendly in general? We have 2 kids age 5 and 8 so schools are important, seem excellent in Katonah. Any insights appreciated.
Katonah is definitely a small/cozy town. There is a small village/downtown area and a small shopping center. A lot of stuff downtown closes early. But you're only a 5-10 minute drive away from Mount Kisco, which is a lot more active. I always liked Katonah (I rented there for a year), it has the best of both worlds, you get the small/cozy feel, but are not too far away from more of an active area.
