This is terrible.

What will happen to old people?

They need to pull in like 20k per year just so the government doesn't steal their house?

I think once you buy land you shouldn't have to keep paying for it forever.

Maybe pay property taxes for the first 10 years you own the property, then you do not need to pay anything and can live on your property forever.

Houses in westchester turn over faster than 10 years usually so I think there is still enough money for the schools.

Also what do schools need so much money for? All the info is available online for free.

Hilarious troll post again by matlabmaster. Why don't you tell us again about how 1 room schoolhouses supplemented by the "Ron Paul curriculum" are the way to go?

At first I thought so too. But a good troll usually manages to sound sincere of have some element of cleverness. In this guy's case it's just sounds mindbogglingly stupid.

I am curious as to where all this property tax money goes in Westchester. The roads are abominable. I have lived in India and Russia, and I can say that many of the roads in Westchester are in as bad a shape as main roads in those countries. The schools? I'm from Minnesota, and while some of the Westchester schools have good ratings, they aren't noticeably better than schools in many Minneapolis suburbs where property taxes are far less than half of Westchester's.

I don't mind living here, but I am very curious where all this money goes. It's astounding.

Isn't part of the reason why teachers make so much a result of their having to pay absolutely absurd property taxes?
