Thanks for yoru insight. We are ready to make an offer on a house, but I am really concerned about being able to get to work without too much of a hassle. The commute to wall street is bad enough without starting the day driving in cricles and missing the train!

Does anyone know about how much Ric's Auto at the Crestwood station charges for monthly parking?

Give him a call. Its comparable to the $1150/year one would pay for a Crestwood space, maybe slightly more since its his own provate property.
Here is my suggestion:
Call the town of Eastchester and ask then how long the waiting list is for a Scarsdale space. When we applied there was no waiting list at all. At one point, I was looking to give up my Crestwood spot in exchange for Scarsdale (about a year ago) and there were spaces available then too. You might be surprised. Call Tuckahoe and Crestwood too and put your name on the list.
I wouldn't let the fear of not finding a space stop me from putting an offer on a house. Where there's a will there is a way. When we bought our house, I had my Crestwood space but DH didn't have a space and we both needed one since we work different hours. He applied for a spot in Dobbs Ferry, Scarsdale and Hastings. Scarsdale came through by the time we closed on the house. You never know.
Not sure what time you leave for work, but there are meters right outside the Crestwood station and the earlier you get it, the more likely you will get a spot. If you get really desperate, that may be a temporary option.
Good Luck.

Congratulations! Good Luck. I hope you get a spot. Don't forget to call Scarsdale first (eastchester town clerk handles) as they are the cheapest and have the most availability.

With respect to the Scarsdale station, what do people who cannot get a parking permit and who do not live near a bus stop do? Are there private lots or garages nearby? It seems that counting on meter parking is very tenuous. Are you simply out of luck if you can't get a permit? Did the new parking structure that seems to have been long discussed ever come to fruition (or will it?)? Thanks!

If you can't get a parking permit in Scarsdale you have to find a spot in another station even if it means driving 10-20 minutes out of your way. If you can't find a spot in another station, then you put your name on several station waiting lists to see who will call you back first. Since a lot of people do this, it may not be long until you get a space since they will go down the list and most people may have already found a spot. In the meantime, you have to be creative, be prepared for a walk as you will have to park far and walk or carpool with someone in your area who takes the train and has a a spot. It may be a temporary nuisance but worth it. I know Scarsdale now has valet parking at the train station. Not sure of you have to be a permit holder to use it but worth looking into.
