I wonder if other ConEd customers got a letter from Westchester Power about their community choice aggregation program. In this program, they choose fixed rate for power and the delivery charge. The comparison is on this page, Rates Updates Archives - Westchester Power
Did anyone look into this? If you are ConEd customer, you are enrolled automatically but there is an option to opt-out. Not too sure if its worth staying or opting out.
Yes, I got the letter since I moved to Westchester county recently.
I had a similar situation in Manhattan earlier, where a salesman got me to switch to a power supply company other than ConEdison. For a few months thereafter, I did not really see much of a difference in my monthly charges. A couple of dollars less one month, a couple of dollars more the next. Finally, I called them and cancelled their service and had to pay a penalty of $120 for doing so. (There's no penalty for cancellation in case of this Westchester Power though.)
I asked a co-worker about Westchester Power and he said that it was low initially, but after a few months, they increased the supply charge which resulted in pretty high monthly charges for him. And it was a hassle to cancel it.
Yes, their graphs look impressive. But it's their own website, not an independent assessment.
I sent them my decision to opt out last week.
