Better off living in Manhattan and do the reverse commute if you want to meet people. Many young(er) professionals live in New Rochelle or White Plains but mostly are already coupled off. Generally people move to the 'burbs when they are settled down and about to have kids.

I want to echo what others have said. White Plains is a great place for young professionals and the nightlife is only a short walk away. Mamaroneck Ave night scene is a decent one with many different bars and restaurants to choose from and they all (usually) have a good crowd especially for happy hour.

The majority will be low quality men who are short or uneducated.

There is nothing low quality about a shorter man.

I agree with you and believe the areas demographics (as high as 93% married) back that up.

There are a few newer high rises near the metro in downtown New Rochelle but the area is so so, with some restaurants, a park, a library, and a coffee shop. The high rises are mostly young professionals.

Lots if professionals in Harbor Point, Stamford and the newer apartment complexes being built in downtown Stamford. Harbor Point it's near the metro. Not sure what the commute to Larchmont will be like. The professionals in Stamford work in the city for the most part, but are looking for cheaper rents, bigger rooms, an be nicer areas. Often there are three sharing an apartment.

White Plains is OK, but young professionals spend their time in the city for the most part. Rents are about 15% higher v than Stamford for smaller and older places. It's about 15 minutes closer to the city by metro.

New Rochelle. Take a walk on Division Street, Main Street and Huguenot. New Hipster places are being open such as Wooden Spoon, you have one French Cafe, plenty of restaurants, some art stores, walk to Long Island Sound. I suggest couple of blocks south of Main Street, towards the ocean so that you can be 5-10 minutes to Metro North, NYC buses, downtown and Long Island Sound.
