Which area (Battle Hill, THe Highlands, ect.) is the address of Ridgeview Ave. between Tibbits and Quinby Ave. in White Plains considered? Is this area safe? I have a friend of mine who is trying to discourage me from buying a home in that section of White Plains. She makes me feel horrible. We have 2 kids, and I know people look down on White Plains school district, but that is what we can afford, and when driving around, the houses all seem to be kept up. Thank-you for any information.

I live in White Plains and my two children love their schools. I find it crazy that anyone would criticize it. Battle Hill is safe and lovely people live there. The area right next to the train station is bit more lower middle class than upper middle, but the people I know in Battle Hill are definitely upper middle class and have no concerns about neighborhood safety. True, White Plains is more diverse than other areas of Westchester, and kids come from all social classes, but some parents (including me) regard this a plus rather than a down side. A high level of achievement is expected from all the students and the teachers are amazingly dedicated.

I believe that's part of the Fisher Hill neighborhood . Some big houses over there. Kind of close together, but you get a lot for your money and it is truly walkable to the train station which is a rarity. I think there is tremendous upside in that neighborhood...the gentrification of Westmoreland and development over by Bank Street should be a catalyst. If they ever build something on the empty lot between Post and Maple, then Fisher Hill neighborhood is going to be sandwiched by new development.

Lots of people describe White Plains schools as bad, but our experience (have a first grader) and that of everyone that we talk to with kids in the district is the exact opposite. If your ok exposing your kids to economic and racial diversity then WP is a hidden gem. Its going to come with lower standardized test scores, but if you think there is a intrinsic value in this sort of thing then its the best spot in Westchester.

Thank-you. That is the information I was looking for. If anyone else disputes about what the area is called feel free to chip in. Diversity is fine for us. We have a 9th grader and a 3rd grader. Is trick or treating big in that area?
