we are looking to move to a condo in the southern westchester area-
we have heard mixed reviews about hartsdale-
i like larchmont, eastchester and scarsdale, but dont want to feel like the poor people who cant afford a house in the nicer towns (even though thats exactly what we are)
does hartsdale share schools with scarsdale?
thanks for your help!

Hartsdale schools are in the Greenburgh Central School district which is not that great. Scarsdale schools are up there - probably one of the best districts in Westchester. That's why a $500,000 home in Hartsdale would be worth a $1 mill in Scarsdale.
I would suggest Eastchester - better schools than Hartsdale but not quite as expensive as Scarsdale. It's very hard to find affordable housing in Scarsdale. A starter home would probably be about $700K minimum and it would be in a tiny plot of land and need a lot of work. Larchmont is the same. Of the 3 you mentioned, Eastchester is the most "affordable" and it's a very nice area.

Jyyanks is correct, but I'd like to mention that in some parts of Hartsdale you go to Ardsley schools which are excellent. This would be mainly in sections off Secor Rd. where one side of the street goes to Woodlands and the other to Ardsley, but these are houses. I'm not sure, however, if any of the areas with condos would go to Ardsley.

Downtown Hartsdale by the four corners is an excellent place to live but the schools are not the greatest as has been mentioned.

Other parts of Hartsdale are zoned for Edgemont schools, which are excellent. Greenburgh schools are not great.
