Somers is not at all walkable and is pretty rural, Yorktown only slightly more walkable. Katonah is nice and has a walkable town center, but is more expensive. Mount Kisco may be worth checking out, as well as Pleasantville and Tarrytown, but then you start paying more of the NYC access premium than you need to. You might find White Plains a good mix of urban and suburban.
Hi there! I live in Mount Kisco was born and raised here… I am also an educator who feel strongly that the school district is fantastic at providing services to children with special needs. Feel free to message me for more information! I’m not a realtor :-) I know the house locally that is for sale… Not on the market yet. Taxes are actually under 10 grand, I know, very rare find. And is walkable to town! Stanford is really easy to get to as you would just go through Bedford and go down Long Ridge Road. It’s pretty much a straight shot. Good luck to you!
