We live in Long Island ( I work in LI) and my wife is considering going to College of NEW ROCHELLE next yearThis could be a 1 hour drive each way depending on traffic on Throgs Neck etc. Where should we consider buying a house near New Rochelle?? We're renting on LI which is very expensive and I guess its going to be very expensive in Westchester county too. what are the good areas with good school districts near New Rochelle?
Or should we just move nearest to Queens?
Any Indians around New Rochelle areas?
Any feedback would be appreciated!
Check out Pelham, Bronxville, Scarsdale, and Larchmont. There are some of the best districts around, but are also the most expensive and not as many rental options. For slightly more affordable towns with good schools, also check out Eastchester, Tuckahoe, and Mamaroneck (Larchmont and Mamaroneck share a high school FYI).
I'd recommend checking out Valhalla which is just north of White Plains. It's not the same in terms of schools as, say, Scarsdale, but it has a large Indian community and from what I understand the schools are still good. It has a nice small village/neighborhood feel to it with a dedicated train station. Anywhere around White Plains will be a bit more affordable in general and a lot more more rental options in general.
