Which towns have walkable downtown from rental apt? (New Rochelle, White Plains: apartment complexes, rentals)

Without knowing anything about budget:

Hartsdale
Bronxville
All the Rivertowns have rentals in or close to town, but terrain is much hillier if that's a concern.

Look along the MetroNorth Hudson line, Tarrytown, Dobbs Ferry, etc.

To echo the previous poster, check along Broadway en route to Tarrytown; there are a number of apartment complexes just before you reach Main Street.

There are also some walkable towns on the sound side- Mamaroneck comes to mind as being a decent town with apartments near the train station. I don't think Port Chester or New Rochelle are nice towns to live in near the train station, and I don't recall seeing apartments near the train in Larchmont but I could be wrong.

Anyway, that side has some nice towns too, unfortunately I'm not super familiar with them.

Fleetwood has lots of places to go and is near the train. Some new and old apartments all around.
