I'm very excited for this pedestrian path! I love Terry Town and Nyack so it'll be great to have a nice, wonderful run and/or bike ride to and from both towns. Honestly, its been long overdue.

I heard rumors that the old bridge was going to be used entirely for pedestrians but obviously not. Was this true though?

Its the TAPPAN Zee Bridge. Nobody calls it the other name. Bridges should never be named after politicians and B) its along the same span of the river and should keep the same historical name.

It will always be the Tappan Zee Bridge long after Cuomo is finally gone..

Is there a logical reason that this feature wasn't built with the bridge? It seems cheaper to do it at the same time then having to go back and tear everything up...

I'm also really excited about this and I hope that they implement some kind of safe bicycle/pedestrian path to get from the Tappan Zee span to Tarrytown via Broadway. Right now there are just narrow, pedestrian-only sidewalks and it is not safe to bicycle with traffic on Broadway due to reckless or distracted drivers and narrow lanes with no shoulder. It looks like the path is being built up on the Nyack side stretching into a residential area, so I hope plans are being made on the Tarrytown side to allow for safe passage in to town.

Nice!

I understand this bridge was built to structurally be capable of handling passenger rail, but I'm also wondering what were proposed routes and services for such however long it would take to come to fruition. Does anyone know?
