My name is Dana and I am transferring from Mayland with my company Enterprise Rent A Car to New York. I have been with them for 2 1/2 years. I also have a 13 year old daughter. I am looking for a good school district and community to live in. I do however have working section 8, please don't let that discourage you from renting to me . I am college educated woman as well as a responcible a single parent. If you have any questions for me please contact me via e-mail. I look forward to talking to you soon. Thanks again,Dana

Dana, you should try searching craigslist or a similar website. This isn't really the place for renters to find apartments.

Also, I'm not sure what part of the county you're looking at, but you should know (if you haven't figured it out already) that Westchester is one of the most expensive counties in the country, and it may be difficult for you to find a landlord that takes section 8 in most parts of the county.

Yeah in Westchester if the owner is accepting Section 8 you can pretty much rest assured that the building or neighborhood are not the best.

Dana,

Try Peekskill, Yonkers, or Mt. Vernon. These are the more populated, cheaper, less suburban places in Westchester that are more likely to accept Section 8. I don't know much about Section 8, but I know that it does exist here in Westchester...but it's not very common. Have you considered the Bronx? There is a bee-line bus system that comes up from there if you don't drive, and if you do, it's a twenty minute drive into White Plains.
