I see houses in Valhalla school district in Greenburg has higher taxes than Valhalla schools in Mount Pleasant.

Are there any other opportunities like this in mid and upper Westchester where I may be able to access the same school with lower taxes if I am careful with town boundaries during house hunting?
Looking to find the best schools I can afford with lowest taxes.

our kids originally lived in eastchester . they were one block from the scarsdale border . buy no cigar , they had their own schools .... now they settled on ryebrook ... they got a much bigger house for the same taxes .

everything in westchester is priced by school system , whether you have a dedicated train station or not with parking and distance from manhattan

If you want the best schools with the lowest taxes, try the cheapest house in the best school district. You may have to sacrifice space and updated fittings for the better schools.

Never buy the an expensive house in a bad school district.

Towns and schools are not the same. Other than a handful of properties where the property itself is in two districts, every property is only in a single district. Town tax and school tax are wholly separate. You pay tax to the school district you are in, even if you are in a different town.

There are a couple houses that are in Mt Kisco PO but Chappaqua schools. Katonah schools just straight up have lower taxes. The villages of greenburgh such as Hastings and Arsdley have some added "village" taxes that you can potentially avoid with boundaries but the taxes are sky high in general there and you'll only save a couple grand. Eastchester PO but Scarsdale schools is mostly a dream, most are Scarsdale PO and Eastchester schools which are considered less desirable.

Just curious, what areas are Eastchester PO but Scarsdales schools? I've never seen that before.
