Agreed. I didn't need a permit for my fence as it wasn't close my property line.

BUT, I needed a permit for a prefab six by ten foot shortage sheds. When we refinanced our home, the bank check the permit. When I sold my house, the buyer's bank checked the permit.

A small Amish made shed, 50 feet from my property line could have been a big problem.

Exactly correct and there are inspections required when selling and often added items that were not “permitted” could be a problem and delay the closing.

Many homeowners never think far enough in advance to anticipate possible issues when selling their house which is always inevitable, sooner or later!
