In my last job I traveled throughout Westchester. Sorry to get to the bottom line so quickly, but: stay out of Peekskill (read the Journal's police blotter, esp. re: drugs and related crimes). Yonker's isn't much better but the communte to Manhattan will be much shorter and you'll be away from the Croton train hub. Otherwise, Westchester is a fantastic place to live.
