Anybody have a clue when this might come to pass? Or what might be keeping it from moving forward? I've seen some chatter on the Web about it, but it looks like it won't happen anytime soon.

I'm still in Brooklyn, but may well be moving up soon and am resigned for now to make the best of trek to Grand Central from W. 33rd, where I work.

I haven't heard anything recently. I work at West 33rd too. It is an annoying trip from GC to Penn, but pretty quick. I usually do it in 10 to 15 minutes. The shuttle trains run like clock work in rush hour and the #1 is relatively dependable.

So I guess you find that quicker than walking ... the 7 line extension would also save me hassle (I work over by 10th Ave.), but I'll probably be collecting Social Security before that's done!

Walking takes me about 20 minutes (I'm at 33rd and 7th), so if you're not in a rush it is definitely nicer. The key is to avoid 34th and the whole Herald Square/Macy's area--trying to to get through that adds a good 10 minutes.
