Is it easier to get to Manhatten from Westchester County (Scarsdale, Larchmont, Rye) or from the more desirable areas of Long Island (Of those, I am not sure. But do know the schools are good in Great Neck and Manhassett.) I know I am all over the place on this board with questions. But, I know little about the area and am very open to possibilites! Best public schools with easiest commute seems to be our biggest priority.
It depends on where you work in Manhattan.
Long Island RR leaves you at Penn Station, which is closer to the west side of town on 34th street (Madison Square Garden). Harlem line trains from Westchester arrive in Grand Central Station, which is right in midtown on 44th and Park.
Schools in Scarsdale, Larchmont ad Rye are excellent.
On the south shore of Long Island is Massapequa where the schools are also excellent. The commute is about one hour by LIRR to Penn Station.
