Agree. The Target parking lot om Mt Vernon is fine. The Supermarket farther into Mt Vernon also is fine. I left a wallet and pocketbook in a shopping cart there overnight, with over $100 in cash and a valuable watch, among other things, that was returned to me, via phone call. Mt Vernon is definitely a high crime place. But the area near Pelham seems to have some good people.

The parking lot that is trouble is the one that has?had? Modells. It think that Home Depot will be going there next. It's the one next to the Bronx.I live in Pelham and never go there. I don't even know what's in there because it's so separate from my daily circuits.

The violent crime stats list is misleading. Yonkers has approximately 250,000 people and Hastings has approximately 2,500 people. Hastings has 22 violent crimes for every 2,500 people, if there were 250,000 people in Hastings the crime figure would be 2,200. Yonkers has much less crime with 978 per 250,000 people.

Hey, if anyone has the money to pay the high taxes in Hastings that are shared among only 2,500 people, then I say go for it and move into the less populated, safer towns and villages like Hastings and Dobbs Ferry that are located in Westchester County!

As for North Castle, it's divided into Armonk, North White Plains, and Banksville. I would say all the crime woiuld be in NWP as Armonk and Banksville are both pretty subdued.

That was the parking that is now the Fairway parking lot, and now it is much nicer. But I think that there still may be crime there.

Of all the nonsense I've heard on this board, this takes the cake. For starters, New Rochelle is a divided city. The North despises the southern side of town - basically everything south of the high school - and rarely if ever ventures there. "The Bronx" literally invaded New Roc City a year or 2 ago. NR has regular murders on the street. OTOH Pelham has a superb police force and trivial crime. Apparently those in northern NR have no actual idea what the impact of Pelham's proximity to the Bronx actually is - zero, except for the glow at night). Those in NR should be so lucky to live in Pelham. Their kids would get a vastly better education too.

Klettermann says: "NR has regular murders on the street"

Hmmm... Last I heard Pelham was having a spree of armed robberies of commuters walking home from the train. But regular murders in New Ro? Just not the case.

I'm not an admin, but I have to say this was a needless "bump" of a 5 year old thread. It has little if anything to do with the OP post/subject.....
