I am attempting to calculate a cost of living comparison between Indiana and New York.
The online calculator online doesn't list any cities in Westchester County. Which area/county is most close to Westchester County in terms of living costs.
My options are:
Albany
Binghamton
Buffalo
Huntington
Jamestown
Nassau
New York
Poughkeepsie
Queens
Rochester
Schenectady
Suffolk
Syracuse
Troy
Utica
Why would you be comparing Westchester County, NY to random counties upstate? They share nothing in terms of similarity, except happen to be located in the same state.
A property somewhere like in Bronxville or Rye can cost 10 times the equivalent upstate.
As a generalization, Nassau is the closest thing to Westchester...Certain portions of northern Westchester, such as Yorktown are more akin to Suffolk County (again a generalization) as there is a big difference between the north shore of LI and the south shore.
I would say Huntington is a little more upscale than Yorktown. Yorktown is more like Northport, but its hard to make apple to apple comparisons....
