Has anyone ever had to sign a notarized affidavit with landlord stating carbon monoxide monitors are present in rental home? Our landlord told us it's NYS law. We have rented several places and never heard of this. anyone?

It IS NYS law to have a carbon monoxide detector:New York State Requires Carbon Monoxide Detectors

I don't know about the signed document, however.

Carbon Monoxide Laws are in place to save your life...or at least your families lives.......so why argue with it....Besides...the landlord is probably trying to limit his liability by having you sign something...I'm sure he mentioned smoke detectors....and window gates if you are above the first floor....

Yes, you are supposed to sign it if you bought your own - because if you don't, then the landlord MUST install one, but they can charge you for it.
