I am trying to find newer type housing under 800,000 within a 45 minute commute to Tarrytown. I need good if not GREAT schools, prefer public if possible. Sq footage of at least 2800 and quality of life. Does this exist?

I would check into Somers, Granite Springs, and Yorktown Heights as they offer most of what you are seeking in a home and community. Parts of the Town of Bedford (Katonah, Bedford, Bedford Hills) might also be in reach, though the house might be a little older, and it's a few more minutes to commute to Tarrytown. Along the river, you might also find something in Croton that would work with your requirements, but the schools vary outside of Croton on the river, so that might not be best since you want a good public school system.

What type of town/village are you looking for? Something rural? Homes close together? If your main concern is the house and schools- I would agree w above poster- look in Northern Westchester. What is your max on taxes?

I am looking for something newer that does not have alot of acreage. I do not mind something that is older that his been re-done inside, that also has refined character. Taxes are an issue and would like to see them below 12,000.00. School is the first important issue. My husband likes the idea of the train, however we are learning that parking at the station is a problem.....this is one hard area to try and wrap your arms around!
