Hi

We are looking to buy a 3+ BR, 2BA in an urban area, for something commutable between NYC and Danbury, and good elementary schools. Can you suggest a few towns that we can have a look at?

Our budget is 450K.

Thanks.

You're not going to find much for that price. But you might stand a chance on a fixer-upper in New Rochelle or White Plains. In White Plains look in the White Plains school district; it's much better than Greenburgh's school district.

You might also try Port Chester, although again, it's likely going to be something that needs a decent amount of work. I don't know that much about the schools.

Default Homes in Westchester

HI,

I am a school psychologist supervisor for New York City and am friends with a Principal and we both live in Peekskill, NY. Despite the fact that I am still annoyed that Judith Johnson, the Superintendent of Schools, did not hire either of us, she has been named as Superindent of the Year by the School Superintendents Association of New York. She has turned the school district around dramatically, and as a result, property values are rising. Granted, we are 50 minutes on the express train from Grand Central, however, your average housing cost will be much less than Croton and you will have the advantage of living in a multicultural community that much more resembles NYC than the surrounding suburbs. Tonight, I am going to see Zappa plays Zappa in a theatre less than five minutes from my house. See if Scarsdale can offer that!

Default Budget

I forgot to add, a budget of 450,000 will buy a nice, if not new, renovated, house in Peekskill.
