HI, we recently moved back into our house after renting it out. The tenants said they would give us a credit for the cleaning cost. It took us a full day, with a group of people to properly clean the house which was left pretty dirty. My question- how much would a local cleaning service have charged? and do they even do 1 visit or must it be a weekly thing? We are holding more security as a result and the tenants are willing to do $150, but i think it would have been 2x's that. Also, they left a few damages to the house, so we kept another $250 (chips in brand new kitchen tile, etc)

Thanks for any insights!

It depends on the size of the house. One size doesn't fit all.

2 floors, colonial, over 2,000 sq. feet. We would have needed a very thorough cleaning, cabinetry, shower, windows, etc.

I sympathize. It's no fun to move into a filthy house. I would think, however, that the tenant might require some sort of receipt/invoice if you're going to seek more than they've offered to credit.

I believe a rental is supposed to be left "broom clean". If it is just basic cleaning- like showers, windows, etc- I think the 150 would be sufficient. Generally- a landlord is always going to need to do a thorough cleaning after tenants leave. Tenants are only supposed to be charged for stains, damage, etc.

Depends on the size of the house. They also have tiered pricing, the more often you get the house cleaned, the cheaper it is.
One time cleaning is more expensive - roughly $350-$450 but that is if the house is REALLY dirty - i.e., post consturction.

I got a quote of $150 for someone to come every other week. I think it was $120 for a weekly visit and something like $200. My house has 3 bedrooms, 3 baths and is approx 2100 sq ft.
