Living in Hawthorne questions (Pleasantville: house prices, schools, prices)

My wife & I have been casually house hunting and like Pleasantville but recently saw some nice homes in Hawthorne. School ratings seem fine, Metro North is close, home prices are reasonable. It doesn't have a town like Pleasantville and has a disturbed children's treatment center but are there any specific drawbacks or concerns to living in Hawthorne?

Hawthorne Schools are not regarded as highly as Pleasantville or other schools in the region. That's the main reason you see a sharp drop in house prices when comparing the bordering towns of Pleasantville and Hawthorne.
