Hi - We are doing a build in Northern Westchester. The time has come to start designing and ordering the kitchen. Does anyone have any places that they would recommend.

I focus on Value and am very practical. Many of the places that I have walked into feel so focused on sales and adding the expensive bells and whistles, high end finishes etc that i am turned off immediatly.

Love to hear any recomendataions

thanks

Check the Franklin Report. Lots of good information online there, with one section devoted entirely to Westchester.

If you order cabinets through Expo in New Rochelle, they provide a designer at no cost. It's a good deal....

Home Depot and Lowes both offer free design. What quality are you looking at? Even at HD and Lowes you can go from in stock discount stuff all the way up to plywood boxes custom built. Most of your lumber yards will also have design centers, but another good one is Strictly Ceramic Tile. They do kitchens too under Homescape in Cortlandt Manor, NY strictly ceramic, cortlandt manor, ny - Google Search

Make sure the contractor is licensed in Westchester: LICENSED HOME IMPROVEMENT CONTRACTORS

Oh, and YOU SHOULD talk about all the bells and whistles up front. A basic 10x10 kitchen can run $7,000 without appliances. Add the door knobs, drawer pulls that can be another $1,000. upgrade to pull out shelves and you and another $2,000. I see too many people fail to plan adequately with a kitchen and it costs a lot more on the back end than planning for it on the front end.
