Does anyone know where I can donate used baby items, ie- high chairs, strollers, clothes in lower/middle Westchester? I have called a few places that do not accept. Thanks!

freecycle.org or .com
This is an amazing network where one can donate items to keep them out of landfills and have others use them. You'll have to sign up to Yahoo Groups unless you already belong to a group there.
It's very interesting. You can get stuff or give away stuff. Nothing is for sale. All free. Everything has to be usable.
Have fun.

Craigslist.com is another good site for both free and for sale items.

The Sharing Shelf of Family Services of Westchester collects new and gently used children's clothes and goods for distribution through Westchester County, NY social service agencies, teachers and others to children in need at no cost. There are drop locations through Westchester County (see website) or you can arrange to drop larger donations directly at the warehouse.

Website is: http://www.fsw.org/index.cfm?fuse=0,3,416 (broken link) or http://www.fsw.org.

Default The Sharing Shelf seeks donations

The Sharing Shelf, a program of Family Services of Westchester, collects new and gently used children's clothing, sorts that clothing by size, season and gender then distributes it to children in need at no cost to the children or their families. Each child receives a week's worth of seasonally appropriate clothing packed into coordinating outfits according to their individual sizing needs. The Sharing Shelf also collects new and gently used shoes as well as the following infant/toddler items: car seats, pack n plays, Baby Bjorns and strollers. The Sharing Shelf works with a wide array of social service agencies and schools in Westchester County. Since we work with multiple Head Start and Early Head Start programs, demand is particularly high for sizes 4T -6.

If you have other items such as swings, books or toys, we can provide referrals to social workers, Head Start programs or other nonprofits that may need these items. We collect winter clothing from August 1-February 28th and spring/summer from March 1-July 31st. The Sharing Shelf was founded by a volunteer and is run by volunteers. We welcome volunteers in our Port Chester warehouse to help sort and package clothing. You can reach The Sharing Shelf by email at thesharingshelf@fsw.org.

If you're not able to find an organization that will accept your items, or if you want to split your items between donation and personal profit, you can always bring them to a children's consignment shop.

Affordables is one in Dobbs Ferry, and Once Upon a Child is one in Mahopac.

I give all of my stuff to West HELP in Mt Vernon. It is a permanent housing facility for formerly homeless families. They take everything and they are very greatful. Last week, my husband dropped off our kids' old toys and a family was coming in at the same time. The children were so happy to see the toys, they started to take things out of the boxes. I only send gently used stuff and I like knowing that other's can get use out of things and they are not just going to waste.

Default The Sharing Shelf of FSW

The Sharing Shelf, a program of Family Services of Westchester, collects new and gently used children's clothing, shoes and certain infant supplies like strollers, car seats (less than 5 years old) and pack n plays. We distribute these items to children in need at no cost to the children or their families. We currently provide well over 100 children with a week's worth of seasonally appropriate clothing each month and work with more than 20 agencies in Westchester County. We are the first program of this kind in Westchester. We are located in Port Chester. Please visit our website at Family Services of Westchester | Donate Items.
