Hi, can someone tell me what the parking situation throughout metro-north stations in southern Westchester county is - generally speaking, from about Kathona down. I found the mta.info site and it lists costs for parking but it doesn't say anything with regards to availability. What looks like an hour and half commute gets much longer when you have to wait for a bus or look for parking.

Thanks!

Generally speaking, parking at the Metro North stations is by residential permit only. Some stations have a waiting list as well. Others like the White Plains station have early bird parking for non-residents but spots there are gone by 6.00 AM.

However I don't know how things are nowadays due to the fact that many people have lost their jobs since September and the morning trains seem less packed than before.

Many stations are managed by the local town, so it can be a hassle to get a non-resident permit. You can check the waiting lists with the town, but if you want to find out about immediate access, check with Allright Parking, (888) 682-PARK, that manages several lots for MetroNorth as it might be easier to get a permit from them, especially if you have some station flexibility.
