How do I go about finding out the actual property taxes for a particular house that is for sale? Is it public information? Whom would I call? The town?

If the info you need isn't on their site I'd suggest calling the assessor's office, which is what I do whenever I'm curious about any address in Mt. Vernon. Depending on who you talk to might tell you right away or transfer you to some other department to get the block and lot # first, but eventually they'll tell you. I imagine it works the same way for other towns.
