Jazcat- I think it is wiring. I am pretty sure Fios is everywhere in Westchester by now. My whole family has it and we go from lower Westchester through Northern Westchester.
I've heard talk that a lot of FIOS customers are switching back to Cablevision after the inital 2-year contracts are up and Verizon is charging a fortune.
Id say go with Optimum we have them just for basic cable and the net.
I would never use triple play as like the other guy said there are cheaper options.
The internet is fast and the Cable is clear. We never have any problems only issue we have had is we were a new customer and they gave us a rate a higher rate like we were old customers.
We have no real issue with Optimum the only thing that is an issue is you cant get the internet by itself you have to get it with Cable ,i think you can get cable by itself but not internet.
We would love to cancel cable alltogether and get one of those antennas for channels 2-13 or 2-33 or whatever (this way we could see the superbowl, the world series, the nba finals ,tthe oscars, the grammys, etc all the important stuff then we could watch movies and other tv on the internet (via some other internet carrier and get rid of cable and get rid of phone service) but we of course would have to find an hd antenna that works
I think the FIOS is overall a better and more reliable service. I stay with Optimum because I like the
wifi service almost all over the county and in NY City.
I've had both and I would say FIOS. From the signal coming into the house to the customer service to the cost/benefit analysis, FIOS is just a better deal. IMHO, of course.
I had the Triple Play with Optimum for years. Every year when the promotion was over, I would call them and ask for the "Disconnect Dept.". I would simply tell them I wanted a promotional rate and they always gave me a better deal than the "Normal" rate. I did it for my mom as well. One time, they upgraded my service from Silver to Gold and actually dropped my bill by like $35 a month. But other times they tell you "we're not offering any promotional rates right now" and you have to call a couple of days later to see if that's changed. Good luck!!
