I'm interested in moving my family (wife and three small children) to communities relatively close to the north side of the Westchester airport such as Armonk and Pleasantville. I've been warned by some real estate agents about "low flying" flight patterns through some of these areas. I'm not exactly sure what that means but it does not elicit positive images for a potential home buyer. Can anyone comment on the accuracy of these concerns. We like the areas very much and don't want to get caught up in any unnecessary anxieties if they truly are not an issue. Any input would be very helpful. I'm happy to answer any questions to clarify my question
That's true for Pleasantville - it's not nearly as close to the airport as Armonk.
We have a country house in Bedford Hills, which is closer. There are planes, but it's not like there are a dozen 747s landing every hour. It's actually very peaceful and quiet.
I seem to live right under some of the flight patterns (in Chappaqua, but near the borders with Armonk and Pleasantville). Not like I hear the overpowering roar of jet engines. Don't really notice anything when indoors. But when outside, you do notice the occasional jet flying by. Not low enough or loud enough to be really disrupting, but you notice it.
Thank you all for the input this far! It's sounding like a non-issue.
