Relocating to Mount Vernon - need income based housing (apartment, county)

I am almost 60 and female and will be relocating to Mount Vernon, N.Y. in a few months.

I need information or resources showing me places to find - or get help finding - information/resources, etc. where I can look for an apartment based on income. I don't even know where to start looking. Thanks for any advice.
