I am thinking of purchasing a second home. I have been posting on the Connecticut and Rhode Island boards to see if I could get suggestions for areas to look into. I just came from Rhode Island and while I loved Newport (nice but not sure if I want a second home in a place that feels like a city) and Watch Hill (totally not affordable), none of the other areas excited me.
I am looking for a place within 3 hours of Southern Westchester that has a nice charming town and a decent beach. I love Chatham MA but the drive is a bit unbearable. In fact, that seems to be my biggest problem. It took us 4.5 hours to get to Rhode Island with the traffic on 95 (it should have only taken us 3 hours). I know traffic is inevitable but am curious to hear from other Westchester residents if they own a second home, where it is and how the traffic is getting to/from. Can anyone help?
