I apologize in advance for another "advice on where to move in Westchester" thread. My fiancee and I are both in our mid-20s. I work in Manhattan and my fiancee works in Rockland. I was wondering what people have on advice on what towns/villages we should look at. Our budget is about $1500/mo. We are looking for a 1 BR apt. Schools aren't an issue as we have no kids. I would like somewhat easy access to a train station, and she would like somewhat easy access to the Tappan Zee Bridge. Night life isn't that important to us, as we're both pretty quiet people and don't really dig the bar scene much. We each have a car, so parking might also be an issue, but we probably won't have a problem with only taking 1 car with us if having 2 would cause too much of an issue. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest Tarrytown. Tarrytown has a metro north train station which makes for an easy to commute to NYC. It is the last exit before the Tappan Zee so your wife will miss all the traffic (though she probably won't hit too much because you will be going away from the traffic). Since your fiancee is commuting to Rockland, anything on the west side of Westchester would be more convenient (287 is a nightmare). Other areas to consider with a train station and an easier commute to Rockland would be Dobbs Ferry and Irvington (more expensive). Good Luck.

Thanks for the advice, jyyanks. Do you know if you need a permit to park at the Metro North station in Tarrytown and if there is a long waiting list?

Not sure off hand if it is difficult to get a space but I do know that there was an article recently that said that there were more and more available spaces at Metro North lots due to all the layoffs this past year. I know that doesn't really answer your question, but I would call the village of Tarrytown and inquire.

Below is a link to info on train station parking including cost and the # to call for more info. Good Luck.
