Hello everyone,

I've been handed a possible relocation with work to NY state. My new office will be in Thornwood so I would be looking to live within an easy commute to there, probably by car.

My girlfriend will be moving with me and she would like to be reasonaly near NYC. We currently live in the UK. I would be earnong 69,000 USD.

Could you folks suggest a good place to rent an apartment?

Is Yonkers all that bad?

no, yonkers is not bad at all. but it depends on what part you live in. north east is good and suburbs. if your girlfriend will be travelling to the city a lot and if you are planning on owning only one car then you should look at towns closer to the rail road. fleet wood, bronxville, tuckahoe, eastchester, scarsdale, white plains. or closer to the river starting with hastings, dobbsferry, tarrytown etc. you will be 15 minutes to thronwood and your girlsfriend willbe 15-20 minutes to the city. white plains to the city will be the longest commute but still less then an hour. but white plains itself is a big city with lot of rentals going up. if you are looking for a party place outside the city then stamford in connecticut is only 20 or so minutes from white plains. hope this helps and good luck.
