Hello
I have a dilemma. My 12 year old is in the 8th grade. He attends a BOCES Therapeutic Support Program he has been in this school setting since the 3rd grade. My issue is I plan to move from Tarrytown to Greenburgh next week (Friday). Today I have learned from the GB school district special education dept it may move my child out of the program next year since they have a program similar to the BOCES TSP at their Middle school/High school. However they cannot pull him out this school year since it has already started but what about next school year?. My main concern is my son's teacher stated he needs a smaller student to teacher ratio such 8:1. GB I assume has a larger ratio like 12-15:1 also I have heard the High school in GB "Woodlands" doesn't have the greatest reputation.
I'm kindly asking for advice from any parents who has or had a child in special education, teachers input as well if It's in good interest to a child to remove him/her from a specialized setting to place him/her into a mainstream program. I don't know what to do!
Thanks in advance
