Hi,

We are considering buying a home in the aforementioned locations.

However, when we visited Rye Brook and Chappaqua recently we saw planes fly close above us in each town.

In digging about online we learned that there are pointed concerns from some/many residents about airplane noise related to Westchester County Airport.

What we would like to know is to what extent is this an issue that affects your quality of life?

And could you put this into a hierarchy (i.e. town x suffers most from this and town y suffers the least, etc...)

Thanks in advance.

I believe for Pleasantville and Chappaqua the majority of the airplane noise occurs in the easternmost sections. We are on the west side of the Saw Mill Parkway and every once in a while we will hear one flying lower than usual, or maybe when wind/weather patterns change the usual path, but not on a regular basis.

It's going to be tough to rank locations as (1) most people don't have a big enough sample and (2) traffic patterns are fairly new.

You'll notice planes on the east side of Pleasantville but for the most part, traffic is very light and the planes are still at significant altitudes.

I grew up in the flight path of the Concord in Brooklyn so maybe I tune it out more easily than others.

I think, though, as you move closer to the LI Sound (New Rochelle) for example, you start to see LaGuardia traffic which is a far busier airport.
