Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in one of the River Towns that a couple visit for a weekend escape from the City and does not cost more than $200/night? At the end of the summer we enjoyed a weekend at the Hudson House River Inn in Cold Spring. There was a nice waterfront restaurant, a waterfront park, and a quiet village to stroll through, all accessible by foot. I was wondering if anyone could suggest a stay in one of the other River Towns. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You might try the Tarrytown House Estate & Conference Center. I believe that the weekend rates would fall within the price guideline, and there is a B&B package on weekends. The King Mansion is part of the estate and features period guest rooms. Also in Tarrytown, Castle on the Hudson would be about double the price range, for a basic room, but might be a place to keep in mind for a special occasion getaway. Neither property is in town, however, but are a few minutes away from downtown areas, since they are both set amid extensive grounds.

Nice B&B in Croton, in walkable location:
"Alexander Hamilton House Bed and Breakfast"

Very nice and expensive spa inn in Cortlandt Manor, on the Bear Mountain road north of Peekskill:
Monteverde at Oldstone Manor
