I've tried digging around a bit already, and have only come up with the Avalon communities as options (which sound like a dangerous idea at best). I'm in my 20s, single, not worried about the neighborhood nearly as much as a well-built 1BR apartment, preferably modern, with parking and walking distance to any Metro North line.

Anyone have experiences with landlords, management companies, specific apartment buildings to share that meet those needs? My budget's about $2200 including parking and commuter rail passes monthly, and ideally would like to be 30-45 minutes from Midtown.

Any ideas? I'm really looking for first- and second-hand positive experiences with properties and landlords - feel free to direct message me if you have something to share!

Thanks so much!

try around the greystone metronorth in north west yonkers it is in the hastings border.
you maybe able to find an apartment in that area for that price, but not modern with amenities.
Apartments like that i think start over $2000 in that area.
try the online search like trulia, craigs list , they have photos, pick the area near greystone train station.

I would also suggest White Plains. Look up "Bank Street Commons".... I think that is the name of the building.

Bronxville(little more but super cute 'main st' feel), Tuckahoe (also good shops and easy walk to Bronxville), Fleetwood are great areas. Sorry no specific building info but looking to buy out there now and co-ops (1/1, 750 sf) go for the low to mid 100's... great Metro North service to city (25min) $160/monthly peak.

they just built a really nice avalon apartment building not far from the metro north in white plains. It looks good and comfortable and pretty modern as well. Its a convenient location not far from stores, transportation, parks etc. I have a car, but I do know parking might be a b*tch over there, they have some ridiculous parking rules at night time if your parking on the street. Although i'm pretty sure you can get a parking spot/permit from the garages on Hamilton avenue (about 1 block away from the building).

White Plains: Bank street and Avalon are both "new/luxury" apartments, but with parking & commuting fees, will likely be above your budget.

New Rochelle may have something.

The Landmark Square building in Port Chester is great - it's within walking distance from the train - old converted candy factory - high ceilings - pool on roof - walking distance to restaurants and movies -great upscale urban vibe in the burbs. We lived there for years and loved it.
