There a job I am applying to located in White Plains that I would most likely accept if given the offer. However, my chief concern at this time is the logistics behind the commute. There are three options that I know of. I will tell you that I invoked one of these options during the day of my onsite interview.
1. I95 North to GW, 87N to 287E. This is the method I used for my interview. Unfortunately, without the ability to fly over the GW bridge, this method was torturous and I highly doubt I might pursue it. However, before reaching that conclusion, let me say I left the house at 7 and was at the bridge traffic by 7:30am. The inquiry I have about this option is: What if I leave the house by 6am and get to the bridge area at 6:30am? Is traffic flow much better during that time?
2. From Edison, NJ , I can switch from I95 at exit 11 to the Garden State parkway and get into NY that way, then catch 87 to Tappan Zee Bridge and subsequently 287E. Can someone share their experience through this route, please provide specific time of day?
3. NJ Transit train to NY Penn Station. 1,2,or 3 train to 42nd st. 7 train to grand central, then metro north to white plains and then about 10 minute walk to building.
Unfortunately, the Tappan Zee is only going to be marginally better than the GWB during rush hour. Leaving early for both bridges, however, could make the trip that much easier, especially if you have flexible work hours. 6:30 is much better than 7:30 in terms of traffic volumes, so I would be inclined to leave early, and have the flexibility to switch crossings, depending upon the particulars of that morning's traffic.
The train option might be best saved for especially inclement weather since it would take hours to make all those connections. Good luck.

Probably much better at 6:00 am. I know someone who has done this for about 20 years at that hour though she stops in the Bronx. It's doable early. The Henry Hudson is worth the toll because it can save you like 20 -30 minutes.

BRUTAL
I lived in Rockland for a time and was offered a very good job in Purchase. The recruiter estimated the commute as 20 minutes. In reality the only way once could make this commute in 20 minutes would be by helicopter. But this was before they expanded lanes of 287. The trip took an hour 45. I never went on the 2d interview.

Thank You All.
4 trains, two hubs and a 10 minute walk. The train from GC to white plains is a 1/2 hour. The two trains will take between 10 and 20 minutes.
If you get off I-95 at US 46 east (5 miles before GW bridge), it is a highway and feeds right into the lower level, usually with less traffic. still can be bad but usually anywhere from 10-30 minutes better
