we are looking at houses in the south salem/katonah area, and i'd love some info about a few things.
1) rec. for pediatricians who take a holistic approach, support alternate vax schedule, extended breastfeeding, etc.
2) how do people deal with half day kindergarten? My four year old is currently in school until 3pm! i heard that there are local preschools that take the k's for the afternoon. any recommendations? is transportation provided? i'm stressed out about a midday pick-up/drop-off due to the napping schedules of my other 2 kids. now that i think about it - is the half day kind. strictly in the a.m. or is ther an afternoon session too? if so, do we have a choice? what are the hours?
3) how about pre-school recommendations? we're looking for a 3's class.
4) any local infant "mommy and me" activities like "music together" or gym-type class?

thanks for any input!

RE #2) I don't know about Katonah or South Salem for sure, but many districts have in-school enrichment programs that provide afterschool until 6:00 pm for a pretty nominal fee. When our son had half-day K (in Yorktown) we enrolled him in a half-day of enrichment so that he would have a full day experience in school. It worked out very well since he got a lot of opportunity to play and socialize with the same kids. Schools do a half-day K in order to be able to use the classrooms and teachers twice each day, so there will definitely be an AM K and a PM K, and you won't get to choose. There will definitely be busing for both AM and PM classes.

RE #4) There are loads and loads of classes, groups, and the like in the area.
