Hello,
I will start my graduate school in Fordham University, Rose Hill Campus(Bronx).
I understand that Bronx is not a safe area. I want to find some neighborhood near the campus and within driving distance. I just start my apt hunting but was hoping someone could give me some advice.

Thanks very much.

whats your budget? Don't really know the area aroudn fordham, but the closest nice neighborhood I can think of is Riverdale. Check the rental rates there.

Lower Westchester (Mt. Vernon and Southern Yonkers) is not much better than most of the Bronx. Probably your two best bets are Riverdale (in the Bronx) and Pelham (in Westchester). Since you intend to drive, it shouldn't be any big deal to get to Fordham from these areas.

Parts of Yonkers (adjacent to Woodlawn) would also be a good place to look. Even in The Bronx, in addition to Riverdale, there are places in Woodlwawn and parts of Pelham Parkway that are good and not terribly far from campus. What's your target rent range? That can help to narrow suggestions.
