Hi - I'm curious about the ethnic makeup of Croton-on-Hudson and I see quite a variation in statistics. Would anybody know which of the following is closest to being correct?
I would guess that the Wikepedia numbers are closer to reality--but I am just guessing. Croton certainly "feels" to me like it is about 80% white, give or take, with the rest being a mix of African-American, Latino, and Asian (in that order). As for ethnic makeup, that 80% white is broken out into a number of different groups. There's a sizeable Italian-American population, a large Irish-American population, a fair number of assorted Eastern European-Americans, a good size Jewish community, and of course a lot of basic Anglo Americians. While it is largely Caucasian, the town feels pretty diverse ethnically.
May be hard to get accurate stats, because when I think of Croton-on-Hudson, I think of the area encompassed by it's school district. But other measurements, often include areas that are outside of the school district.
According to greatschools.org, the ethnic makeup of the schools (which should also reflect the town) is:
White - 84%
Hispanic - 10%
Black - 4%
Asian - 2%
