visiting Grandfather Mountain in August (hotel, dinner, location)

Hi all, my family will be traveling from jersey to grandfather mountian on a thursday,expecte to be their by thursday late afternoon. will be staying at hotel thursday nite,then friday going to do grandfather mountian.is it a half day thing? we would also like to to the linville falls then friday late we will be going to lynchburg va to visit friends. are we cramming in too much in short amount of time?

If you don't plan to do any of the hikes on Grandfather, or maybe just a part of one, you could easily see the exhibits and animals and have time to go to Linville Falls too.

Plan to give each location at least 3 hours, get started early, bring food/picnic lunch and you could be on the road to Lynchburg by 4 or 5 I suppose. Then plan to be on the road to Lynchburg about 4.5 hours. Of course, you'll need to stop for dinner on the way, so you would be arriving rather late on Friday night, but it is doable .
