I have heard so many good things about Ashville from various people.

Would it be worth traveling from Bradenton Fl,to Ashville for a week and where should we stay.( 2 Dogs in tow) I have no idea about any area in Ashville or N.C for that matter.

I would like to be close to everything but withn driving distance to the lakes etc.

You should probably learn how to spell Asheville first.

"Near lakes" is quite vague. What exactly are you looking for and why are you coming to the mountains for lakes? There are a few worth while lakes in the area and most are an hour or so away from Asheville.

It would probably help you immensely to move this to the WNC thread too...

The Residence Inn (a Mariott property) on Biltmore Avenue allows pets. It would be closer to the downtown/Biltmore area than say lakes. Nothing shy of a cabin or campsites are really near to the bigger lakes (Lake James/Fontana Lake). Now Lake Lure down in Rutherford County has various mom & pop type rentals - not sure on the pet policies.

If you're looking to come up here during the month of October, you better make reservations soon (if you haven't already). That is a time of year when hotel rooms become hard to find due to all the "leaf lookers".

Asheville is a wonderful place to visit, although, be prepared for a very long drive from Florida

Have fun!
