I've never heard anything bad about the school. The real problem is that it only goes through 8th grade. They are trying to get another Catholic high school off the ground, but that could take years. Your options for high school now are public, evangelical Christian, or $16,500 + per year private.
We visited that school about a year ago in hopes of sending our sons there. Unfortunately, it was on the wrong side of town from where we will be living and too far of a drive. The children with whom we interacted were really polite and sounded like they came from upper class families. The building was small, but seemed like a typical Catholic school to me. Thumbs up from me.

An independent Catholic high school, Canongate Catholic High School, began in South Asheville in 2013. It covers grades 9-12 and will soon be adopted and supported by the Diocese of Charlotte.
There is an excellent Catholic school in Hendersonville. Look up Immaculate Conception Church; and Immaculata Catholic School. (Unless you absolutely have to live in Asheville.)
