Thank you all for the great input on the area. I would love to know about schools in area if anyone has sent the kids to public schools around Asheville area/black mountain area. My kids are in elementary school now and am looking for a nice safe place to be with good schools.

My kids go to ArtSpace Charter School. It is a free public school that uses an arts-integration curriculum. We love it! It is between Asheville and Black Mountain in Swannanoa. Black Mountain Primary and Elementary are good schools, too. They feed into the Owen Middle and High School which it has been my experience does not necessarily graduate students who are ready for the challenges of college. Both of my brothers graduated at the top of their respective classes and struggled to catch up when they started college. The schools in the area are safe for the most part with the occasional issue but not an overwhelming sense of danger.

Thank you so much for the info, did not know of this school looks perfect for my kids. The are both very smart but are being left behind do to their way of learning(being on the creative side) and our current school has zero flexibility in the teaching styles, The other elementary schools in black mountain also look good to.
