Riverfront 12 Bones could be condemned

It's things like this that make Asheville a little too crazy for me. That would leave the 12 Bones in Arden. It's a classic place to go and was the second restaurant I went to when visiting to determine if we wanted to move here. It may not be the best but it has a great Asheville flair. What will happen to the microbrewery (The Wedge). It's in the same basic area. If the River Arts District continues to change with the expected increase in traffic, we will stop going there. West Asheville is congested enough as is.

Keep in mind that as businesses open and close here, those working in these stores will have their jobs yanked from under them and Asheville's salaries are abominably low already.

That article mentioned the importance of 12 Bones to the RAD as well as Asheville and it will be relocated and continue. Let's just hope that the new place is as funky as the present.

Nothing is going to happen to 12 Bones, other than possible relocation within the RAD.

Nothing is going to happen to The Wedge building. It's nowhere near this proposed roundabout.

Yeah, the 12 Bones thing is old news. The plan for the roundabout and the closure/relocation of their RAD location was known back when they were in the process of building out their South Asheville location, under the original ownership. At the time the prevailing rumor was they were opening the second location so they could continue operations during their RAD relocation. That was four or five years ago??? Back then, the RAD plan was supposed to start development within 12 months. Of course, like all such plans, you have to convert the time frame to dog years to arrive at the actual start date.

Imagine, the ACT is reporting something that has been slowly chugging along for five or so years as some breaking news. That should surprise no one. My guess is 12 Bones will acquire another restaurant in or near the RAD, do the build out, be open for six months, and maybe even have thrown the doors open on a third location before the ACT reports their actual relocation as a current event.
