Hi ya'll...still looking for that perfect rental. Found two we are considering. One is on Kirkwood off of Riceville, almost an acre. The other is on New Lite Road in Fairview. Anybody live in either area, or wouldn't live there for any reason? Being out of state makes it SO hard to make decisions as we have no time to make a house hunting trip. Any advice would be quite welcomed! Thanks everyone!

I believe the middle/high school is the same for both areas (Reynolds). The Riceville area is more connected to Asheville, lying north of Tunnel Road in east Asheville. The Parkway Corssing apartments (La Mancha Dr) are not great, so I'd recommend living further up from there.

Fairview is still relatively close, and probably quieter in general, but it is geographically disconnected from Asheville. There is only one way in and out (US 74-A). Riceville is a bit less mountainous and actually has open fields, while Fairview is more rugged terrain and is forested. My family and I would live in both areas without hesitation, but prefer being more town-oriented. For the same money, I would pick Riceville.

Smile Still waiting to move....

Hi! Thanks so much for the reply. Both homes are still available as of right now. I am leaning towards the Kirkwood Road home as I love how you say it's close to Asheville. Hubby will work on Tunnel Road, so sounds like it would be a nice spot. Whereabouts are those apartments you listed?

Here's the Google search link, with map and property site. They look really nice in the photos, and they are under different ownership than they were 5-7 years ago. But they had a looong way to come up before I'd consider them. Says nothing bad about the neighborhood around them, I just remember them as being noisy and grimy.

Riceville to Tunnel Road is as easy a commute as your hubby's ever had, I can almost guarantee that. He'll love it, and might even come home for lunch sometimes!
