Hello,
We just moved to Asheville earlier this week and are hoping to fill up our fridge and pantry.
Any recommendations on where to get the following :

Indian spices and groceries
Organic chicken
Cage free eggs
Organic produce

And general groceries? Any recommended grocerynchains? We have a Bi-los and ingles nearby us.

Thanksnso much!

Earth Fare and Whole Foods (Formerly Greenlife) will have your organic and cage free items. They both have a decent amount of the basics for Indian cooking. Fresh Market has specialty items too. There are many tailgate markets/farmers markets around town that have local organic offerings.

There used to be an Indian grocery attached to a restaurant in S. Asheville but it closed some time ago. I'm not aware if a new one ever opened.

You might find Indian spices at Foreign Affairs Market @ 611 1/2 Tunnel Rd Ste A near the VA hospital. The prices are kind of high.

If you travel out towards the Triangle make time for shopping! There are many excellent Indian groceries in the area.

I love Asheville and think it is a terrific town for food. But there are a few categories which you just can't easily find.

Grocery chains are limited Ingles has cornered the market. But...Harris Teeter and TraderJoes building so we will get more choices. Greenlife good but expensive for everday stuff. Oh, also a Fresh Market on Merrimon Ave. Glad to learn about place on Tunnel rd, wasnt aware of it.
