I'll be visiting Asheville mid August and we normally stay at hotels but wanted to do something little more romantic with my boyfriend. Trying to find something $125 and under in or near Asheville (within 15 miles) thats cute and safe, mountain views are a bonus but not mandatory.
Will you consider Airbnb? If so, look up Modern, Green Country Farmhouse in Fletcher. I haven't stayed there but it was on my list when we were taking trips here before moving. And there are lots of other types of options if that's not your thing and want something more *city*. I did stay at an Airbnb cottage in Hendersonville that I could recommend but it's farther than you want to be.

Not sure what their summer rates are, but a relatively cheap, basic hotel across from the Biltmore is Sleep Inn. Clean, basic, and safe. I stayed there last May, and was pleased. Again, basic, no frills. Much lower rates than any other city hotel chains, if you are interested in lodging in a center city location, and are ok with not a fancy place.
